Also, I realize a few were against DII schools, but all of my teams have accomplished at least 10 wins (unless we're removing those well, automatics from their records)

Thank AKAONI for posting this. I am on a furlough day, which means I can't lift a finger to do any work. Kind of like the sabbath.

and D2 wins don't count, sorry.

akaoni said...

Although I have posting privileges, I generally reserve my posts to discussion or American Idol, my fantasy football prowess (back to back championships baby!), gourmet cooking...

...you can expect me to post on one of these three topics this week.

I authorized the two Gonzaga losses over the weekend to ensure I drafted in front of Akaoni and McGrumps,

Correcting earlier statement, thank you Akaoni for posting draft.

-The CEO

McGrumps said...

There is not a single post on this blog related to "gourmet cooking," or even "food" for that matter.

akaoni said...

Well, that should be remedied then...

McGrumps said...

Or "football." You are the official American Idol poster, I guess.

akaoni said...

I'll watch tonight and give y'all a rundown.

Ron said...

Wait - American Idol is on tonight??? I thought it was moved to Wednesdays and Thursdays?

CEO - your up.

akaoni said...

I'm just continuing my run of half truths...

Ron said...

Yeah right you TiVo'd last weeks and haven't watched it yet.

McGrumps said...

I will be out of commission due to deposition prep and depositing taking tomorrow, and will not be able to make my pick until tomorrow evening. Unless I find some time tomorrow.

Sorry.

Ron said...

Take your time, Grumpy. I have no idea who to take and I pick after you.

akaoni said...

It's a big mess after Coastal Carolina dropped. If McGrumps isn't planning to pick tonight, I'm going to bed, so no hurry bro.

The conversations worth millions:

CEO: "Oh, I'm liking Long Island. They are up on my short list".

Jutdog: "I think Bab's took them".

CEO: "I am really liking Long Island. No one has them, I just checked.

Jutdog: "I'm looking at the site, and Babs took Long Island.

CEO: "Awe, that cock sucker. Fuck him. Who's left in the WAC?"

Anonymous said...

For the record, I said loser, no what the Dawg wrote,

Babs!!!!!!

akaoni said...

Whoever wrote that last comment was obviously drunk.

Anonymous said...

Oh the pressure. Seton Hall was on my drop list. And then they go snag me 5 points. Dammit. I mean, yes! Hazel did have 28 pts against the Cuse, so he must be "back" in full effect.

This complicates things.

There it is:

(Dec 17, ESPN BBALL NATION) - Weber State guard Damian Lillard is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a broken foot, a team spokesman said Friday.

Lillard, the reigning Big Sky player of the year, suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot during Thursday’s 81-79 overtime loss at Tulsa. He is tentatively scheduled undergo surgery to have a screw inserted in the foot Dec. 26 and need 10 to12 weeks for the bone to heal.

The 6-foot-2 junior entered the Tulsa game ranked 20th in the nation in scoring averaging 21.5 points per game, but was injured with 16:08 left in the second half going for a loose ball after scoring five points in 21 minutes.

Lillard, who returned to campus Friday to visit with the team’s orthopedic surgeon, also led defending Big Sky regular-season Weber State in assists and steals.

I thought Hazell was dead?

Ron said...

I just paid $4.95 so I can watch the San Diego St. / BYU game tonight.

If anyone wants to come and watch it - 9 PM, bring drinks and a dollar.

Anonymous said...

OK. Shit, tonight is the point in time homeless count. I'm scheduled 9pm - midnight. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Anonymous said...

And no, he just got shot throught the chest in the arm-pit region. Back on the court in just 5 weeks.

Anonymous said...

However, it appears that McGrumps is dead. I guess Phunmunki should just pick for him.

akaoni said...

I believe he's in court all day. I would be willing to bet that he'll pick by the end of the day today.

Ron said...

He texted me from jury selection, he's trying to decide between N.J.I.T. and Utah Valley

McGrumps said...

I lost my trial because I was too busy paying attention to this crap. You owe me a million dollars.

akaoni said...

Bummer bro, sorry to hear that. n:(

McGrumps said...

A million dollars sorry?

akaoni said...

No, not that sorry. Maybe buy you a beer while watching UFC sorry...

McGrumps said...

Not good enough.

akaoni said...

Hmmmmm...

Anonymous said...

Nice pick Akaoni, perhaps having Gonzaga lose was a mistake, I wanted Hofstra!!!!

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

I'll go with Buffalo

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

And the day finishes well: BYU, Texas, UNC, Rhode Island, Old D, all winners!

Anonymous said...

Gimme the Hampton Pirates of the MEAC.

Mooseye, Cornfield

Anonymous said...

Nice - within 10 points of 3rd place, and a decent Saturday coming with all winnable games.

Now, we need the newly selected Hofstra to begin its terror through VCU, starting a 3 game losing skid for Gunz's dark horse.

Boston College is also looking to restore their hopes in league play, and does so by taking down a battered Duke (Gunz) tonight.

Finally, Saturday serves as transition day for Gunz, as he goes 1-6 on the day, with the Badgers narrowly getting by Penn St by 4. The result is Gunz's lead vanishes like the fart in the wind that he is, and the leaderboard begins to get more and more tense. All except for Babs, who's hopes and dreams were Jimmered.

~ Lord Jut

Ron said...

Jimmer was FUCKING AMAZING to watch. That guy is incredible. He moves, he shoots blind, he's ambidextrous, he's quick, he's smart.

Its too bad lord jut couldn't watch him play, he had to count homeless people because he's a bleeding heart liberal.

San Diego State was the underdog in that road game, but they make basketball look really easy. They looked really good, but probably not final four good.

This is NOT a good week for me, I'm getting creamed everywhere. If y'all don't catch up to me by Sunday you suck.

akaoni said...

As predicted my team overachieved just in time to get me in the bottom half of the draft. Now that draft is basically over, I'm on my way back down...I'll see you in the toilet Babs.

McGrumps said...

Mediacom now gets espn3, which means I can watch most games on my X-Box! Go BC!

Jaybird: Buffalo - MAC

akaoni said...

Buzz, try again, CEO selected Buffalo two picks back.

akaoni said...

I would say that Jay gets Austin Pee and Boario can fuck all, but I'm not in charge here.

Anonymous said...

OK, we got it.

Jaybird - Austin Peay

Boaris - Bethune Cookman

Jutdog.....

Anonymous said...

California!

Ron said...

Fighting over Austin Pee. That is awesome.

Anonymous said...

Wow, that was really a game Gonzaga needed, now they must defeat Memphis to secure the bubble over them. They have the win over Ok State another bubble team, but wow, barring a nice run in their tourney, they could end up NIT.

Michigan St.....? Illinois? What's going on?

Babs, you still hating on my Texas Final Four pick?

-The CEO

McGrumps said...

Memphis 16-4, one bad loss (SMU), 35 in RPI, getting votes in both polls.

Gonzaga 13-8, three bad losses (Santa Clara, San Francisco, Washington St (by 22 points!)), 78 in RPI.

Gonzaga needs to win their conference tournament, or maybe gets in by winning every game but the conference championship game, provided that St. Mary's wins the conference championship game, because St. Mary's has beat Gonzaga twice, and three teams from the West Coast Conference aren't going to the dance.

Sorry, CEO, but Gonzaga has really underperformed this year, which is odd given how much talent they have. They seem to really miss Boldin, and no one has stepped up to lead that team.

Anonymous said...

We'll see McGrumps,

I'm referring to our early Feb matchup, and I think Memphis comes to Gonzaga this year. A head to head win will carry some weight, hard to put Memphis in ahead of Gonzaga if they are able to get the win. It makes it a must win for them.

I completely agree that Gonzaga has been a big dissapointment, but even as much, they have convereted enough head to heads to keep me in the running. They do need to step it up though!!!

On paper today, agree, Memphis has a better resume, let's see how the head to head goes.

-The CEO

McGrumps said...

I'm not too hopeful for Memphis getting into the tournament absent winning Conference USA, anyway. I just think Gonzaga is in that boat now, also, although they have some better wins then Memphis.

Anonymous said...

Both teams are probably able to earn more points in the NIT anyway

~ Global Perspective Man

McGrumps said...

Should we begin discussing rules changes now, then?

akaoni said...

I have a proposal. I think that we should remove the conference restrictions for drafting. That means if someone wants to make his first 4 selections from the Big Ten then he has that right. In the end scenarios like this will happen infrequently as they will prevent head to head win bonus points and would likely be a losing strategy. It also allows for fewer "artificial" restrictions during initial selection.

McGrumps said...

I was being sarcastic when I recommended discussing rules changes now. Probably not the right time, right in the middle of the season and all.

Anonymous said...

You are getting the "limited government" itch it seems.

I like it in the sense that you can strategize around some of the picks knowing that x number of folks have the restriction in place. So, add-limit.

However, it may inappropriately restrict a player from choosing what they believe to be the best available team at the time, thereby not allowing the full effect of genious. So, duece.

It looks like we could go either way. But in Bab's communist-feeling totalitarianist regime, you must exchange one restriction for another.

CEO, call SGII

Anonymous said...

Sorry guys. I'll keep all of my losing teams.
SGII

Ron said...

Good move man.

Anonymous said...

I would drop and replace Charlotte, Wake Forest and Western Kentucky if I could.

Mooseye

akaoni said...

Damn, I wanted Nebraska to get back to me. They had to go and win that game against Texas A&M and attract attention.

/cranky

Anonymous said...

JAYBIRD PASSES! GO MORGAN STATE!!

Anonymous said...

Mooseye drops Wake Forest, on account a they won a game yesterday, and it could be their last. New team: the Texas Southern Tigers, SWAC.

Anonymous said...

There aren't many leagues or games in which you drop Wake Forest and draft the powerful Texas Southern.. this is great.

Anonymous said...

St. John's over Duke? Hardy with 26 points? That helps make up for a shitty week!

babs

Anonymous said...

Damn, cleaning up the spreadsheet of doom I just noticed how powerful Mooseye's DROP of Wake Forest is - he just denied easy points to every player with a team in the ACC.

Musa did the same in the Big 10 by dropping Iowa. Akaoni a little bit with the Texas Tech drop.

Next time lets all drop teams that play Duke (except St. Johns of course woot woot)

Anonymous said...

MADER..........GUNZ..........!! LETS GO BOYS!!

Anonymous said...

The Mad Mader has to wait until he is back from work today (around 4:30 pm) to make his pick, unless his wife is able to send him his spreadsheet.....I will be ready to go shortly thereafter. I can tell you who we are dropping, respectively, if that is a mystery....St. Louis and Bradley.

-Gunz

Anonymous said...

Just sent the email, too, but to make sure it is spotted ASAP....
