Babblemur on Top of Bloody Week Nine

Week Nine was bloody. Every player but one lost at least 5 games, and every player but two won no more than 10 games. Three top 10 teams were beat, and upsets struck everywhere. The point spread though was not as wide, the lowest was +12 (The CEO), the highest was Babblemur (+25). Everyone else took in between +14 and +20.

Gunz held onto first place for the 8th consecutive week. Although he struggled with a 9-7 record he still brought in +19 points off big wins by Clemson and Oklahoma State and consistent winning by Duke. Georgetown is a big concern now after losses to St. Johns and West Virginia. Bradley dropped three straight.

McGrumps held onto second place off a 12-5 record for +18, but Kentucky's loss to Georgia and Boston College's loss to Harvard sting. Richmond, St. Mary's and Oakland all brought home the bacon.

Babblemur rose from 6th place to 3rd place after winning 9 of 12 games for +25. The high points is credited to Georgia upsetting #10 Kentucky and Colorado upsetting #9 Missouri. Purdue picked up 6 points off wins over Penn St and Iowa, San Diego State won two straight to remain undefeated, St. John's picked off Georgetown, and USC nailed UCLA. Ohio however lost against Miami (OH) which is a bad sign, and Maine lost one they should have won.

The rest of the upper echelon include Mad Mader (+19, 7-5), Mooseye (+15, 9-7) and Boaris (+15, 9-5).

There was no change on the leader board for the bottom seven. The CEO lost ground off a 10-5 record for +12, Jaybird gained some off 10-5 record for +18. Akaoni went 11-8 for +17, Jutdog went 10-5 for +14, and Some Guy in Illinois went 10-5 for +16. Slake B turned up the volume with 20 points thanks to a strong week for Ohio State, West Virginia, Wright State and Miami (OH). Musashisan is keeping pace with +19 off a 9-7 record.

Looking Forward to Week Ten

Ran out of time. Sorry.

This week's starting pretty well for me, as long as I don't jinx myself with this comment.

This is turning into a bloodbath. I'm liking Marquette more and more.

Also, does anyone else think Johnson-Odom looks like Kanye West? Did he get shot in the jaw too?

Fredette Drops 47 As BYU downs Utah on the road. The MWC now has two teams in the AP top 10.

Penn State taking down top 20 Illinois, placing Ohio St and Purdue atop the conf.

Tennessee: 0-2 in conference play

Boston College: 3-0 in conference play

4-way tie for the top of the Horizon, and Cleveland State isn't one of them

Bradley is 0-5 in MVC play.

11-4 Colorado St goes to New Mexico tonight for their first real conf test. Even bigger is UNLV's trip to San Diego State.

Pitt travels to Georgetown, which is turning out to be one of those "must wins" for the Hoyas. Already only 1-3 in league play, more steps in the red could mean another consecutive disappointing season for JTthe3

Do we get to drop a team this year?

Does Penn St's emergence give the Big 10 another tourney team, or put more pressure on Northwestern and Minnesota, will be interesting to see how that plays out. Two straight wins takes the fluke out of it and makes it more legit.

Wisconsin continues to struggle to close out games, Gunz could taste that win last night with a 9 pt lead and 2:39 to play, then the wheels feel off, was hard to watch. They just really panic at the end of games, have to question Wilson being on the court, his play cost them the win, and a huge one at that as it was a quality road victory (see Penn St above, road wins in the big 10 are really at a premium).

Nebraska comes in with a great record, I think 13-2 (1-0) in conf against Missouri this week, Missouri can't fall to 0-2. Likewise K State is at 0-1, can they rebound.

Good call out on G-town, really surprised to see them struggling this much, and I think they likely fall to 1-4, lookout below.........

And, congrats to Marquette finally pulling off a quality win.

6 for 6 with a win over the #1 team. Not a bad night.

Don't fuck with me:

"Hazell scored 23 points in his first game back since breaking his left wrist and less than three weeks after the gunshot wound, leading Seton Hall to a 78-67 victory over DePaul on Wednesday night."

Very nice job, Akaoni - 14 points for the night! Your just screwing over your expand-a-draft position but I suppose it is worth it.

Gunz was held to 4 points, good job everyone.

Boaris had another terrible night. I think we can lay off him now, he's been beaten out of second place and down to just a few points above the Mitchell Clan.

Ouch to Memphis, dropping to USM last night. Early indications have Memphis finishing 3rd in CUSA.

Wofford slowing recovering from a dismal start: 4-1 in conf play and helped by a Furman loss last night.

And LSU moves into an early lead of the SEC pack...!!

Oklahoma State was 13-2 heading into last nights match-up against a somewhat surprising Texas A&M team. A&M wins by 23 and moves to 15-1!!

San Diego St barely protects its home court advantage against UNLV. Edge: BYU

Nice games Michigan and Iowa St. That would have been sweet to have Duke, Ohio St, and Kansas all lose.

Minnesota determination day: Move to 1-4 in league play or completely revive their season with a home win against top 10 Purdue.

UNC hosts V Tech. With a win, they move to 12-4 and 2-0 in conf play, ahead of Duke.

WAC battle of the season tonight, as 14-2 (3-0) Utah St heads to 11-5(4-0) and un-picked Boise St.

And Friday has 3 great match-ups with season implications:
- First is battle to hold the #2 spot in the MAAC, with Iona heading to Rider. Both are potential expanda-drafts.
- Next is a great match-up in the Horizon between 12-5 (4-1) Valpo on the road at 11-6 (4-1) Wright St. Both teams are currently in a 4-way tie for first in conf play.
- The other two teams tied for first also play, as Butler heads to Detroit.

As Babs points out, my little surge last night is nice but it probably just screws me for good position in the expansion draft. I'll likely hold on to my position until we draft and then plummet back to the bottom.

Oh well, at least I had a chance to smell the clean air of the top half of the league briefly before returning to the dungeon...

I vote for "move to 1-4 in league play".
