Power Weekend Points Galore

POWER WEEKEND POINTS GALORE

6 Major Conferences: 30 points
9 Other Conferences: 36 points
15 More Automatic bids: 60 points

And Selection Sunday will result in 34 At-Large bids: 136 points

Who's still in the running for those Conference bids this weekend? Most players have just one or two teams left on the point hunt with the exception of NotaTurtle (3 teams) Babblemur (4 teams) and Jutdog (5 teams). First place Babblemur faces second place Jutdog in three huge games on Saturday that could determine the point spread going into the tournament.

The rundown:

ACC
North Carolina (Jaybird) vs Florida St (Musashisan)
Duke (The CEO) vs Maryland (Phunmunki)

Big Ten
Michigan St (Babblemur) vs Ohio St (Jutdog)
Purdue (Akaoni) vs Illinois (Notaturtle)

SEC
LSU (The CEO) vs Mississippi State (Boaris)
Tennessee (Musashisan) vs Auburn

Big East
Louisville (Jutdog) vs Syracuse (Babblemur)

Big 12
Baylor (Notaturtle) vs Missouri (Gunz)

Pac 10
Arizona State (Babblemur) vs USC (HippieD)

Conference USA
Memphis (Gunz) vs Tulsa (Babblemur)

Mountain West
Utah (Jutdog) vs San Diego St (Babblemur)

WAC
Utah St (Progress Media) vs Nevada (Phunmunki)

The following conferences have players playing against non-player teams for championships (& eight points):

Atlantic 10: Temple (Jutdog) vs Duquesne
Big West: Northdridge (Notaturtle) vs Pacific
MAC: Buffalo (Jaybird) vs Akron
MEAC: Morgan St (Progress Media) vs Norfolk St
SWAC: Alabama St (Jaybird) vs Jackson St
Southland: Stephen F. Austin (Jutdog) vs. San Antonio

GO DUQUESNE!

OK I'm getting killed today.

ahhh, back to familiar territory... total domination.

Winning when it matters (a loss means you're out):

Babs: 0-5 today

Boaris: 5-7 the last 3 days relying on 3 wins from Tenn

Aka: 1-5 on Friday

Jutdog: 13-2 the last 3 days

Musash: 4-1 the last 2 days, with contenders in the ACC and SEC championships

Progress: 6-1 the last two days (counting a Utah St win tonight)

CEO and HippieD haven't played much. Shitty teams? Shitty conferences? Both?

Ron said...

Oh give me equal measurement at least =

"Babs: 0-5 today"
"Jutdog: 13-2 the last 3 days"

How about Babs: 10-7 the last 3 days, not as bad as you make out.

Babs: Still in second place ahead of Jaybird by 7, ahead of Akaoni by 9.

I'm looking forward to any one of my NCAA Tourney teams playing Stephen F. Austin & Cornell, and heck other than San Diego St I'm pretty sure we can handle Utah & Temple.

But lets face it - this is going to come down to who gets the most teams in the Sweet Sixteen, who has the teams in the Final Four, and who wins it all.

If I had to pick the four best teams in the nation right now it would be Louisville, North Carolina, UCONN, Pitt & Memphis. This is going to be a big edge for Jut, Jaybird, HippieD, Boaris & Gunz.

From here on out it is relying on luck for me.

SECOND CHANCE AT REDEMPTION

I've created a Group for brackets at ESPN so if you want a chance at redemption like me you can submit some brackets, join that group, and have a chance to show that the 12 of us probably know these 65 basketball teams about as well as anyone at this point...

ESPN gives each person up to 10 entries. If you want do 10 brackets and have them all join the Babblemur group! I'm giving one of my entries (if not more) to my 7 year old to pick, she LOVES the brackets!

The group is here:

What a JOKE!

Cornell over Tulsa??? You are crazy.

Creighton will school Temple if they get to meet as 8-9 picks in the Tourney. And we'll never know but VMI would beat both Utah and Rhode Island.

Akaoni, CEO, Jutdog and Boaris helped their positions today in the final day of regular season games.

Tourney picks are coming shortly!

"Cornell over Tulsa??? You are crazy" - I guess we'll never know. Cornell is going to the good team tourney while Tulsa sits in the Not Invited Tourney. The winner to us non-academics is pretty clear.

Game over for me (as if it wasn't already). 3 Teams in the same Bracket! Texas A&M, Washington, and Purdue, that seriously limits my potential points. Oh well, after Friday, it was basically over anyway...

HA HA - in one 8 team section Jut's got Louisville, Ohio St, Utah, & Wake - I guess we'll be seeing some early losses there eh?

Anonymous said...

Yes, unless my dark horses Stephen Austin and Cornell pull some crazy shit, i'm limited.

I can still get that 2 sweet 16 teams, but not likely to go beyond that.

NIT lineup announced at 8pm - I should have at least 3 teams there too.

The two games I most look forward to:
Arizona State vs Temple
Syracuse vs Stephen F Austin

Jut got dicked

I unfortunately have Syracuse vs ASU in round 2

Turtle lucked out with Illinois vs WKU, with Gonzaga in round 2, very winnable.

Interestingly, I think we all got seeded roughly, I certainly didn't like seeing Duke as the #2 in the same bracket that Villanova was the #3

And LSU an 8 seed, wow, not a lot of love for the SEC at all

Go Northern Iowa.....

Yes, of all the games in the whole NCAA tourney, I'm also looking forward to games that involve Stephen F Austin and Temple. I also can't wait for opening round of the NIT, and will be taking vacation to watch the NAIA D-4 2nd round..

What are you, stupid, or just plain dumb?

I'll go with kicking Jut's Crappy Teams' Asses

I just completed my first bracket, a randomly determined bracket using the random.org coinflipper. Interestingly, the bracket actually held to form to some extent. I won't discuss specifics (I believe the brackets are secret until the tourney begins) but I actually ended up with a #1 winning the whole thing matched up with a #2. I'll probably submit a few more brackets, but I doubt I'll put the whole 10 in to play...
