Ugh, what a horrible week! 5-10 with two losses for Texas. Now I'm stuck picking up scraps at the end of the redraft.

I was hoping UAB would slide to me, but obviously that was wishful thinking. Oh well, it's all downhill from here...

Anonymous said...

Morgan St?????????? Did you draw that one out of a hat? For your first round?

Anonymous said...

there is a method to the madness that I will explain at the end of the expansion draft....Wanted UAB but didn't get them :o(

Thought Morgan St would light up the chat room, and get you wondering what I know that you don't

-The CEO

Ron said...

Morgan State is undefeated in the MEAC, and beat Arkansas. for what its worth.

You are one to talk, Jut - Marquette, seriously.

akaoni said...

Marquette did give Syracuse a run for their money over the weekend. But that's not surprising with Babs' curse and all...

Ron said...

But Marquette still lost. They are losers. Come on. They'll fit right in on Jut's squad.

Anonymous said...

Marquette only loses one more game this year - at Cincy. They will pull at least 4 wins over other players - all at home - and then will win another 3. They do fit nicely into my comeback city team, witch.

Anonymous said...

Keep trying, while the fact that I may be an idiot is a valid try, it does not explain the rational of why I chose Morgan State and not Murray State, I know it's bothering you Jut, just look, you'll see, you have to look a little harder though, and then it will be obvious, I have to agree with Babs, Marquette, really, yes, they've been in some ballgames, and played Syracuse and Nova tough, but c'mon, NIT at best, and just giving us points, well, I guess I'll take the three when they play Cincy, thanks!!!

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

Do you think it is a babs curse or an iowa curse? You know, no matter how hard you try, you're just going to lose.

Anonymous said...

Posted on wrong thread. I take UTEP.

-NAT.

akaoni said...

Turtle picks UTEP, Jaybird up.

Also, I guess that teaches me for defending Jut's pick.

Ron said...

I guess Marquette looked good several months ago, but they have lost 5 of their last 7 games, including at Depaul.

I see four wins at best for them - Depaul, South Florida, and Notre Dame at home and *maybe* a road game at St. John's but they haven't won a road game yet this season so I'll say they are good for 5-6 points total.

This is a "favorite son" pick. UW Milwaukee is still available for your second round...

Anonymous said...

Wow - I thought I would snag UTEP middle of 2nd round. Ha ha. Way off.

~ Jut

Anonymous said...

Wasn't enamoured with any teams, just trying to increase my chances of winning Conference USA.

Ron said...

Grab Marshall in the second round.

Go UAB!

akaoni said...

Man, the teams left out there are pretty much craptastic! Am I wrong in remembering better options last year even with 12 teams?

Ron said...

I have just been informed that Jaybird has selected....

MURRAY STATE.

Gunz is up.

Anonymous said...

Last year there were some big surprises, Northern Iowa got out to a huge lead in their conf, California was winning the Pac-10, I think there were a couple of Big 10/Acc/Big East teams that were available, probably all because the CEO took such great winners as Middle Tenn State, Boston U, and Mount St Mary's, for those of you who don't remember, don't ask how that worked out....

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

what is crazy about last year is that there were these good teams left (don't forget about possibly the best expandadraft team ever in Missouri) despite us having 12 players - that is 16 more teams that were picked in the preseason draft than this year, and despite this, there were still so many good teams to select.

Other great teams from last year:

Utah state had barely lost
Utah brought in over 20 pts
Michigan, Illinois, and Penn State all were taken
South Carolina was also snagged.

Verdict - in general we all picked much better this year.

Rhode Island

-Gunz

Anonymous said...

Couldn't someone have picked Rhode Island before the top players came up? sheesh. At least Akaoni didn't get the Rams.

Hey Ak - USC is still available.

:-)

Babs

akaoni said...

Hey Ak - USC is still available.

Shhhh...there is still one person to pick before me!

akaoni said...

God damn HTML not working!!!1!!1!

I only know a couple of lines and like to use them when given the opportunity...

Anonymous said...

Rhode Island isn't going anywhere -relax

Anonymous said...

Akaoni - shouldn't you get cocky and select Iowa? That would be an impressive feat - winning with pure shit on your jersey. That would of course be a gutsy move.

akaoni said...

I won't select Iowa in this contest for the same reason that I don't litter my roster with Detroit players in fantasy football, it's not sound strategy. Instead, I look for value that drops in the draft and grab productive players from unpopular squads like the Cowboys.

I know you all need as many free points as you can get, but I'm sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news, Iowa won't make my squad. Talk to Turtle, he might make the homer pick.

Anonymous said...

We want Mushasisan back. We want Mushasiowapicker back!

Aka, you make a good point. How about Iowa State...

Anonymous said...

Rhode Island is starting a long slide to the NIT!!! That's why we left them for our mighty leaders to fight over....

-The CEO

akaoni said...

Doubling up with South Carolina teams. I'll take College of Charleston and Costal Carolina.

akaoni said...

Coastal Carolina rather...

Anonymous said...

Boaris snagged LA Tech. Gunz... you're up.

Anonymous said...

The pickings are getting pretty slim. Here's a vote that Bennett ball won't completely collapse in the ACC...Virginia.

Gunz

Anonymous said...

Can I even take Iowa? That would make three Big Ten teams. Can I do that in the expansion draft?

Ron said...

The rules state:

- No player can draft more than 2 teams from the same conference (in preseason)

I guess that means that in the expanda draft you can select more than 2 teams from the same conference. Personally I thought there was no cap after the first four rounds.

Anonymous said...

I'm pretty sure that the rules state that you can't select more than one (1) team from the same conference in the first four rounds. And I thought it was no more than two (2) overall, but I guess the interpretation is that you can't select more than two (2) in the first eight rounds.

I'll take Iowa then. Unless Jaybird takes them. I'm serious.

Anonymous said...

Actually, I take that back. I DO NOT TAKE IOWA.

Anonymous said...

There is no restriction on who you can select in the expandadraft, except that of taking a team already taken by someone else. You could have 5 big ten teams - 2 from reg season, 2 from expanda, and 1 one drop/pick up round.

~ Commissioner Jut

Anonymous said...

If Turtle doesn't take Iowa, I will.

Anonymous said...

Just kidding.

But man, wouldn't that be funny if Iowa ran the four game sweep of the big 10 tourney to get the auto bid, like they did the first two years of the conference tournament? Ah, those were the days! scrappy and tenacious!

Anonymous said...

Yeah - come on, Turtle, you have a chance to win this bitch. Don't fuck around by taking Iowa. Take someone who can get you some points - Northeastern or William and Mary in the Colonial, or Weber State in the Big Sky, Maine in the AmEast... At least take someone with a winning record.

-Babs

Ron said...

Will someone please take Morehead State? It makes it easy to look up scores if I can assume that M___ State is a player team.

Murray State
Morgan State
Michigan State
Mississippi State

Anonymous said...

And Jaybird takes.... I'm on the phone right now. .

Anonymous said...

Jaybird takes Harvard - he told me to pick for him.

Anonymous said...

Just kidding

Anonymous said...

Jaybird snags Northeastern, and requests that someone else takes George Mason for the sport of it.

Justin Mitchell said...

If the chips fall right, i'll add on a nice 10 points tonight and take back over my #5 slot. just maybe. it seems my teams are becomming good at losing.

Ron said...

Go with William & Mary! Come on! I'll take W&M maybe if Turtle and Jut pass over them. They have a #47 RPI, 13-5 record, 6-3 in conference, and have wins over Wake Forest, Maryland, Richmond, Radford.

Vermont or Maine would be my next choice.

Justin Mitchell said...

we could make it real interesting by taking george mason, vcu and william and mary

Justin Mitchell said...

Georgia has 10 games to play in Feb and March, including wins at home against Arkansas, auburn, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, and LA State. Take em.

St Johns also has 10 games, and great chances to snag some points. Home games against struggling teams like Marquette, Seton Hall, Louisville. Throw in road wins at Rutgers, South Florida, and Depaul, and you have an NCAA contender.

And the final plug goes for Providence, who has 9 games left, 8 against other players, 5 of which are at home. These guys have the potential to bring in 25 or more points. To not take them is almost as crazy as not taking St Johns.

Western Carolina

~ Jut

Ron said...

If the CEO takes George Mason, I'll take William & Mary and we can have a four way battle for the Colonial title along with Jaybird's Northeastern and Gunz Old Dominion.

Seriously - if The CEO takes George Mason, Babblemur picks William & Mary.

Other wise I'm giving Texas Tech another look.

akaoni said...

Stay out of the Southern!

Anonymous said...

PACIFIC boys, PACIFIC

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

I was eager to steal the opportunity to smack you down Akaoni, and the victory by Western Carolina yesterday opened up a great opportunity.

My thoughts are that Charleston loses two more battles this regular season.

babblemur said...

Dammit.

I'm taking William & Mary. - Babblemur

I caught Phunmunki before bed and she is taking Quinnipiac.

Some Guy in Illinois is UP.

akaoni said...

I guess that South Carolina beating Kentucky takes a bit of the sting away from Baylor losing yet another close one to a ranked team. I might even have to reconsider dropping SC...

Anonymous said...

One nice way to look at things is that Akaoni might only have 1 conference winner - anyone else with say 4 quickly grabs 15 - 21 points on him.

The bad way to look at it is that even with a 21 point boost, I'm still behind by 20. Common Kentucky. South Carolina? Go Texas Tech!

I think SGII is folding.

~ Jut

akaoni said...

I say we give SGII Iowa and move on!

Anonymous said...

St. Johns. Sorry...
SGII

Ron said...

ST. JOHNS!

Now my friend, you are up for deciding if you are going to drop a team and add an unclaimed team in their stead.

Either say "I'm good, bitches" or "I'm dropping Creighton and adding Campbell" or whatever.

Last year most players stuck with what they had. Your squad isn't that bad, or at least I don't know if you can make it better given what's out there.

Your call.

Ron said...

Well the curse seems to have shifted to Jaybird (1-6 this week), and Akaoni is on the re-BOUND.

Vandy over Tennessee - take that, dirt bags.

Anonymous said...

I'm not waiting my turn. I'm good. Penn State has lost so many close games, they have to rebound. And LBS will win the Big West, or whatever conference they are in.

--NAT

Ron said...

Well, I've thought long and hard about it, and I'm going to keep all my teams. Portland was the one I thought about dropping, but I like them, and it would be just my luck if I drop them and they win their conference tournament.

So I'm also going on record as KEEP ing my teams. No drops, no adds.

Anonymous said...

CEO - kick your buddy SGII. Just like a FIB to hold everyone up. Just kidding Danny.

Anonymous said...

Jutdog says:

Boston College was near the chopping block, but the win over Clemson saved them. Plus, the addition of Virginia to the pool adds 3 more points for BC.

Radford has been badly underacheiving this year, but have managed to take down chief competitor Coastal Carolina on the road, and has the fortune of playing this expandadraft team at home, so I'll keep them, and plan on them winning the conference tourney.

Therefore, my team is also entact and no one will be dropped or added.

~ Jut

~ jut

Anonymous said...

Creighton took their lumps early, and looking to upset N Iowa for the MVC tourney title. I'll keep all my crappy teams. FIB

akaoni said...

Boaris dropped us a line saying no drops for him.

Anonymous said...

No drops for Gunz....Not even UCLA.

Ron said...

Phunmunki hereby drops Oregon State and adds Washington State.

akaoni said...

Pitt and Va. Tech just beat St. Johns and Virginia last night. Unfortunately, it's a week too soon. Very sad.

Ron said...

Whazzamatta - you not getting enough points this week? Sheesh!

Ron said...

THE CEO is up for deciding if he is going to drop a team and add one, or keep his crew.

akaoni said...

As a matter of fact, NO! I don't have a lot of games against other players this week and would like to try to get my lead back up in the 30 point range...

Anonymous said...

Let's roll the dice, they are up, they are down, but I'm going to take Charolotte and hope they stay hot, Arkansas, your win last night was nice, but you're fired

-The CEO

akaoni said...

Doh!

Ron said...

Akaoni - take Arkansas!

akaoni said...

lol

I AM pissed about that Charlotte pick. Only 2 more teams and CEO had to grab them. They were head and shoulders the best team left on the board in my estimation.

Anonymous said...

Sorry - Jaybird spends his time in Vegas these days, pulling 16 hour card shifts followed by some sleep. He told me "i don't know if I want to drop any teams because I don't know who I have". The conclusion, then, is that Jaybird does not drop anyone.

Kooani, you are up. Weber St is still left, but that is lame. You could be brave and go with Morehead State, George Mason looks good, Did anyone take Marshal? IUPUI provides some good conference competition, and if you have any confidence, take Harvard - some folks have them winning it anyway.

Anonymous said...

Here is an interesting dilema for Jutdog and Babs to figure out, I cut Arkansas, but it is a head to head matchup with I believe some dirty no good boy from Illinois. Does the makeup game, whenever it gets rescheduled count for the winner?

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

don't get your question

Ron said...

The Arkansas-Mississippi game today is listed as "Postponed" - weather related I assume.

My ruling on this is that beginning February 1, Arkansas is no longer a player controlled team. If they make up the game tomorrow, it counts. Otherwise it is Mississippi against a non-player controlled team.

Anonymous said...

Whether there is a "makes more sense" in terms of our draft and rules, the logistical aspect leads to confirmation of what ron said - arkansas is no longer a player team effective feb 1, and will be shadowed on the spreadsheet.

jut

Anonymous said...

Can I cut a second team, what do the rules say about that?

Anonymous said...

Sorry, above question is from CEO

Anonymous said...

no - it says one team - you need to be stuck with your shit to some degree. Pick better next year. Sam Houston State will need to wait. From the rules bin - you'll notice the word "one":

- A voluntary third round will take place following the 2-round draft, in which one team from the original roster can be dropped and a new team picked up. All existing points from original team will remain. Order will continue snake method from round 2.

Anonymous said...

"Shit" is a compliment to Oklahoma, can't you come up with something better to describe them,

They are by far, the biggest dissapointment of the year, followed by Oregon State, then North Carolina......

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

DISAPPOINTMENTS =

Radford
Minnesota
Louisville
UCLA
Washington
Oklahoma
Michigan
Western Kentucky
Oregon State
UNC

And lastly, Some Guy In Illinois. Although a rookie, no one could have predicted the extent of his failed effort thus far. Looks like he might take over the role once equated with Iowa.

~ Jut

Anonymous said...

HA HA HA None of your "disappointments" are MY teams!

BTW someone should have considered South Florida - they just picked off Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and Providence in their last three games.

-Babs

Anonymous said...

I would add that UCLA is actually EXCEEDING expectations, thus not a disappointment but a pleasurable surprise.

Anonymous said...

California is a disappointment. - Babs

Anonymous said...

Actually get this, teams of mine in first place in their conferences:
California
Butler
UAB
Vanderbilt
Jacksonville
Maryland

And Richmond and Portland are only one game out of first.

akaoni said...

After a thinking long and hard on it, I'll drop South Carolina who goes out with a bang knocking off UK and pick up Tulsa, who actually has a chance of winning their conference and might even make the tourney.

Anonymous said...

you can't take tulsa, someone has them

akaoni said...

Well, that sucks, I guess I should be paying more attention. That Charlotte pick really discombobulated me.

Anonymous said...

I think Iowa and Iowa state are left

akaoni said...

Well, I thought about going with Sam Houston St., but I think I'll just stand pat with South Carolina, although they will give up lots of points from here on out. Enjoy the gift folks.

Anonymous said...

Here is the really awesome thing about my Arkansas experiment, they could win out, and still not get in the tourney, but in giving me 6 pts this week, really didn't hurt me having them, and I won't be giving away free SEC pts, although now that they are at full strength, they're looking much better, I still think they'll only win 2 or 3 more games...

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

As of the drop Date, Arkansas "Dumb pick Idiot" had outscored the following teams picked in front of them:

Wright State, Creighton, Niagra, Oregon State, Penn State, Radford, Houston, and Jacksonville, and had matched as many points as Akron and Western Kentucky, as my last pick, I'm calling the experiment a well funded success, even if they got half their pts in the last 5 days.

ha ha ha Jut,

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

radford = worst pick in my history - not only did they not produce anything, they have given up large numbers to players. ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

Agreed - Radford should be banned from the Babbleball contest for one year. What was Jut thinking. -Babs

Anonymous said...

Akaoni should have picked Arkansas and shaped them into the team the CEO could not, who knows, they're getting hot, and have almost all head to heads left

-The CEO

Ron said...

Someone (Akaoni?) should have taken George Mason. First place in the Colonial with 3 other player owned teams in the conference to try and score on.

Anonymous said...

Bracket busters are out, some interesting matchups:

Morgan State / Murray State

Northern Iowa / Old Dominion

Pacific / Someone

Wichita State / Someone

Siena / Someone

adds a bunch of head to head matchups
