Iowa Brothers Akaoni & NotaTurtle brought in 22 points a piece to top the field, which moved Akaoni solidly into second place and pulled NotaTurtle out of the basement and into 11th place. Akaoni's points came off a weak 10-6 record for the week, but some key wins by Dayton, Purdue and Texas A&M. NotaTurtle might have had his first winning week ever going 12-4. Ole Miss stepped up and beat both Kentucky & Miss St, both Boaris' teams. In fact 6 of Turtle's eight teams went 2-0 while Miami & Baylor went 0-2. Nice job, Turtle!
Wisconsin Brothers slugged away, with Jaybird & The CEO taking in 21 points each, and Jutdog hit 20. Jut has moved just 4 points behind Babblemur, and the other two moved into 5th & 6th place. Jaybird was 13-3, undefeated on Saturday, with some important wins from Northeastern and ND St. who are trying to lock up their minor conferences. Marquette is looking bad-ass, too. The CEO did even better, 13-2, also undefeated on Saturday. Villanova knocked off Pitt, and LSU knocked off Tennessee and Arkansas. Jut's 20 points was on 12-4 play, Wake lost after topping #1 Duke, and San Diego dropped two games before being dropped by the j-dog.

Wednesday's Michigan St - Minnesota should determine if Michigan St. actually sucks, or if they are going to run away with the Big 10 title. And Clemson has a chance to even things out on top of the ACC with a big game against Duke.
Thursday has UCLA vs. USC, which will make a big difference in the Pac 10 standings.
Saturday is even bigger than before thanks to the 24 new teams! Inter-conference play alert: Gonzaga-Memphis has potential to be a fun game to watch, and UCLA takes on struggling Notre Dame, and UCONN faces rising Michigan. Green Bay vs. Milwaukee in the Horizon could be critical for both, Austin Peay (Boaris) faces Murray St. (Progress) in the OVC, and New Mexico (Akaoni) can fight their way back up in the Mountain West against UNLV (HippieD).
Sunday's Purdue - Illinois game in the Big 10 is big for both, and Creighton (Babs) goes after first place UNI (CEO) in the MVC.

San Diego State now sits on top of the Mountain West at 6-2. Utah can tie them up if they beat TCU wednesday, Utah is 5-2, TCU 4-3. BYU, UNLV & New Mexico (who lost to BYU tonight) are all 5-3.
Didn't the Mountain West end last year with a four way tie? We could be seeing that happen again...

SD St already beat Utah at Utah. So, the Utehs will need a few things to happen - particularly the all-difficult task of winning at BYU. With 5 players in double digit scoring, they have a solid, balanced attack that nets them a top 25 RPI and serious contention for a very strong conference. At least two teams will make the NCAA tourney from the Mountain.

Akaoni could get 9 points but realistically Texas A&M doesn't have a chance against Oklahoma, so call it 4, but 3 are in the Drake Creighton game. So Akaoni gets 4 to my 6, or he gets 1 to my 9. If this last case happens (Creighton over Drake) I tie Akaoni for second place.
Boaris could pick up 7 pts but Providence vs. Villanova is leaning Villanova in my book, so more like 4. Still a huge lead.
Gunz has a potential 17 points up tonight! Unfortunately for him he is going to lose at least 3 of those 4 head to head matchups.
I think A&M is a better team than you think. Will they beat Oklahoma? Probably not, but they have the front line to give them a challenge...

My team is finally acheiving the suckiness I predicted from the start. It's good to know that my initial impression of my team was accurate...
Things are looking dimmer and dimmer for CEO's shitty conference contenders. Munki with a nice day yesterday, topped off with a fine UW win.

HUH!!! With Vermont blowing a 24 pt lead, Boston U has now moved into sole possesion of first place in their division. However, Mt St Mary's now has only the conf tourney to count on, as Robert Morris pulls away. VCU blows a huge opportunity as Northeastern give William and Mary only their second conf win and VCU loses to UNC-W giving them like only their fourth Conf win. Weds determines if Duke is a pretender or a contender. Right now they're playing more like the pretender. Whoever gets the #1 seed playing out of Charlotte can say hello to the final four. Wake is fading, Duke is fading, UNC has new lift, and Clemson is emerging as a contender. It will be a fight to the finish.

A lot of these conferences are really tight. Big 10 (after Michigan State): 5 teams are 6-3 or 6-4.
SEC is anyone's guess.
Winning the conferences is going to be veeeery interesting.
Note that if two teams tie with the best record in conference, they BOTH get the points for the conference, not split the total evenly.
Some thoughts:
1. The oft-snickered at Cal State Northridge (bitches) is tied for the lead of of the Big West Conference.
2. Coming into this season, Kent State had 10 consecutive 20-win seasons. They have currently won three-in-a-row and must win their remaining nine games in order to keep that streak alive (if you assume zero post-season victories).
3. The latest CBS Sports projection of the NCAA Tournament had Washington projected to win the PAC-10 and get the automatic bid. Whoever made that prediction is a complete moron (even if it ends up happening).
4. Ole Miss has won three in a row against Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Auburn, despite having lost three key starters prior to the season, including their star player.
5. UCLA has started blowing people out. Watch out!
6. The Miami Hurricanes beat formerly No. 1 ranked Wake Forest by 27 POINTS the other day!!!!!!!
7. My teams will all undoubtedly start losing again after I post this.

UCLA is sure to thump the waning Notre Dame, Ole Miss should take down Vanderbilt, but can Miami keep it up against Duke?
Unfortunately Milwaukee is going down to Green Bay, but the UTEP - Tulsa game should be interesting.
So who you going to get in the NCAA? UCLA, Miami and Illinois are locks. Ole Miss is easily on the bubble, and Northridge can win their conference bid. Baylor needs to get their shit together.

Friday low lights:
Only three games tonight.
Belmont (Phunmunki) could put them in contention in the A-Sun if they beat Campbell, joining E. Tenn St. and Jacksonville Dolphins with 10 conference wins.
Marquette (Jaybird) is undefeated in the Big East, playing South Florida (2-7, 7-14). I think an upset is about to happen.
Cornell (Jutdog) v. Princeton - both undefeated in the Ivy, Cornell's only true opponent - is the Ivy league still Div. I???

Lets be clear: The conference winner receives the points. Your push for "best record" is shallow, and quite frankly illegal. As consistent with last year, and the rules, it is conf winner. For example:
Big 10 ends with two teams going 13-3, Michigan St and Purdue. Michigan St beats Purdue in both head to head matches, then Michigan St wins the conf, and our pts, and the big ten reg season championship, despite record tie. If the teams split head to heads, then they both win. If they don't play each other, then they both win. If they only play once, then whoever wins wins.
In all the history of college basketball, few claims have been more ridiculous than your push for a team that doesn't win their conference to somehow receive recognition for winning their conference.
Whoever hangs the banner is our winner.

I guess that means Sienna doesn't get in, or Boston University (tougher shot, but winning their conf), I think picking up Northern Iowa by the CEO has hurt their chances, they're playing bad now.
Mt St Mary's needs to win their conf tourney to get in, and Middle Ten State needs to be sent packing, they're falling apart....
