I'm not going to do a contestent by contestent run down, partially because I'm swamped at work but mainly because I was pretty unimpressed by most of the performances last night. The performances were either pitchy, wooden, or completely copycat. A ton of the women were going for that whole folksy female singer vibe that's popular right now but they just ended up coming off as affected (much like Ron's favorite from last season Meghan Joy).
I guess I liked Siobhan Magnus' version of Wicked Game the best of all the performances. Simple and understated, her voice sounded very good and she didn't try to do too much with the song. Also, she has a kick-ass name!
I agree - unimpressed for the most part. First day nerves I suppose but these are the ones I actually want to hear again:
Crystal Bowersox - the granola girl coulda rocked it, I guess my expectations were too high because I felt let down. Solid though.
Haeley Vaughn - OK we groaned when we heard she was singing "I wanna hold your hand" but she put that little teeney-bopper angle to it with a hint of calypso and I kind of liked it. She's got Sanjaya potential.
Katie Stevens - Twas late but I thought she was good and is top 6 material. Top 3 even. Serious - watch her. Cute as a button.
Lilly Scott - Falls in your "whole folksy female singer vibe" category but she did "Fixing a hole" some justice. One of the best of the night. If she sticks with that though it will get stale.
Siobhan Magnus - yes - I want to hear her again. She's got that weird "mysterious" thing going for her. Reminds me of whats-her-name from high school, you know who I'm talking about?
I actually do vaguely know who you're talking about. I can't really remember her name or anything about her, but I've been struck by the similarity between Magnus and...someone.

Wow, I thought the girls were bad. Either they did a terrible job picking good singers during Hollywood week or America has simply run out of talent. Horrible. The funniest thing about last night is the fact that the traditional "eye candy" (or "ear candy" if your Kara)pick was actually the best singer of the bunch.
Um, NO! Munoz grew up in Huntington Beach and his self-proclaimed influences were Michael Buble and Celine Dion. Garcia is the son of Mexican gang-members, was born in Compton, and worked hard to escape the ghetto (he claims the birth of his son as the impetus to disclaiming gang affiliation). I'm pretty sure Garcia would shoot you right in the face for calling him the "hip, ironic guy." Whatever. You should root for him.
