On to the 2nd Round

A harrowing first round!

You have to be in it to win it, and here's who is still in it:

  • Boaris, 432 points, 4 teams in the NCAA, 1 in the CIT. Kansas and Ohio State are definite contenders, and BYU has potential.
  • Akaoni, 430 points, 4 teams in the NCAA, 2 in the NIT, 1 in the CBI. With Syracuse, Baylor, and Pitt he's looking solid.
  • Jutdog, 405 points, 4 teams in the NCAA. West Virginia and Kansas State are tough, Tennessee and Cornell could make the Sweet 16.
  • Babblemur, 401 points, 3 teams in the NCAA, 2 in the NIT. How long can Maryland, Butler and California carry - likely not much further.
  • Gunz, 394 points, 3 teams in the NCAA, 2 in the NIT. As long as Duke is in, Gunz is a contender.
  • Jaybird, 385 points, 2 teams in the NCAA, 2 in the NIT. Murray St is only going so far, its all about Kentucky now for Jaybird.
  • NotaTurtle, 368 points, 3 teams in the NCAA, 1 in the NIT. Turtle is still in it if he can keep Purdue, Gonzaga and Georgia Tech winning two more rounds, with UCONN as the clear favorite in the NIT.
  • The CEO, 367 points, 2 teams in the NCAA, 1 in the NIT, one in the CIT. With only Michigan State and Northern Iowa to rely on The CEO's days are numbered.
  • Phunmunki, 327 points, 5 teams in the NCAA. Say WHAT? If all five (Villanova, Xavier, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, New Mexico) win their round two games that is 40 points this weekend. Phunmunki is still in this. Thems some good teams.
  • Some Guy In Illinois, 292 points, 1 in the NCAA (Missouri), 2 in the NIT, 1 in the CIT. Not gonna happen.

CEO has taken a extra fat axe to the right leg of Boaris, and has eaten it. Wow!!!!! Northern Iowa to the Sweet 16!

Woo hoo! Way to go UNI! I was in a car listening on my way back from NW Iowa. Very exciting, would have loved to have watched it.

Also double bonus with my Washington Huskies kicking Alford's sorry ass!

Well Phun got slammed down. Gunz got slammed down. And Boaris took a big hit with the Kansas loss but at least St. Mary's salvaged his dignity.

Big Points Today at stake
Akaoni 16
Boaris 8
Babblemur 16
Jutdog 16
Gunz 16
N.Turtle 24
Phun 16
SGII 8
CEO 8
Jaybird ZERO

today is going to be a definitive day - at least two players are going to take serious blows to their championship hopes.

My predictions: Babs takes the biggest hit with at least one of his teams (Maryland or Cali) going down, while Akaoni has a leg cut off with Pitt going down. Phun further suffers with TexasAM going down, while Gunz moves ahead with at least one win (Duke or Wisconsin). Jutdog's West Virginia has a huge battle against a strong Mizzo team, which could end up severely damaging his contention.

Damn that Maryland loss was heartbreaking.

Book the CEO a ticket at the great 8, too bad they have to play each other

Well, not really too bad - it is worth a bunch of points to move a team on, and it had it been arranged differently, maybe the teams would both loose, producing nothing.

Although I stunk and day 1 and day 3, my 15/16 and 7/8 on day's 3 and 4 has me sitting just outside where I need to be in one of the pools I'm in (Even with Kansas gone and Nova gone). I just became a huge Tennessee fan, as no one has them, and sending Ohio State packing gets me closer to salvaging this mess of a bracket. To make up for taking away Ohio State Boaris, I am cheering for St Mary's, and of course Northern Iowa
