After Hummel went down Andy Katz put out a revised Top 25. While it sucks to lose a top 3 team, I still have THREE top 25 teams per Katz list:

Not too much double dipping in conferences this year. We've got:
~ Gunz with Duke and Clemson in the ACC
~ Mad Mader with 'Cuse and Notre Dame in the BE
Probably not much else going to happen either.
A reminder from the rule book:
- Re. Playing your own team. A victory over your own team does not produce the +2 effect, nor the +4 effect if it is a top 10 team. You would still earn 1 point for a victory.

Mid Major poll out on Nov 1
Wow, CEO and JutDog in the Cellar, Ron, what kind of odds are you paying on that? I'd like some of the action. I see 8 teams on my squad that return 75% or more of their scoring from a year ago, and 8 likely NCAA teams, match that anyone?
Sure, most will likely take a bow early in the tourney, but Minnesota is deep and will benefit from playing in the toughest conf in the nation, Missouri is loaded, and Gonzaga is very balanced and deep as well (Duke owner will find this out mid to late Feb).

Bring it :o), I like San Diego St, I had them last year, but what scared me away this year is they could legitimately start 0-4, some great tough games, all on the road, should help them when they hit conf play though,
I had Oakland last year too, they're decent and have Benson back, but that team lost a ton, they're not even widely picked to win that conf, it's a toss up between them and Oral Roberts, should be a good race.

Huh, from what I saw Oakland was solidly favored, with some predicting Oral Roberts to finish third. That said, I was still concerned with Oral Roberts given their history, but thought Oakland was the best minor available at that point.
Oakland is solid, and with Benson returning dangerous, but last year was their year, they lost a lot to graduation, no guards but big guys, ask SGII how he felt about owning Carolina last year.....

Pretty sure Oakland only lost one guard, Everyone else of note back. Really one of the safer minor picks, I think. But nothing is certain, no matter what Jut and his gigantic brain thinks.
Derrick Nelson and Jonathan Jones both gone from a year ago 12.7ppg / 2.4 bds / 6.5 assists per game and 11.7 ppg / 6.1 bds per game, but I guess that isn't too much......
For the record McGrumps, I'm not challenging your pick, I had them last year, it's a good choice where you made it, the string is challenging BAB's logic, "Oakland will do even better in the summit". Let's face it, they play a great schedule (all Big Ten title contenders, Memphis, etc, just like last year). They were more talented last year and lost every one of those games by 25+ (although I did cheer hard for them, we just couldn't pull an upset). To suggest that they'll be better this year, losing the above leadership and contribution.....it's a stretch. They at best will match last year's points contribution which was solid, and where you picked them, makes it a solid choice. To suggest they are a better choice than Fairfield, Wofford, or UC Santa Barbara, um......not buying that one, and neither is the mid major poll released today

Yahoo has a projected 68 team field out, CEO has 7 teams in, but really crappy seeds, they have Missouri at an 8, Vandy at a 9, and Minnesota at an 11, only Washington St didn't make the cut. Their 4 no 1's:

Wow, Kentucky as a two seed? Jut said they weren't all that. It is funny how quickly the "pundits" replaced Purdue with Ohio State.

There are a few 3's and 4's that I think could replace a few of those teams, Kentucky being one, Florida will push them hard, Illinois is poised to make some noise in the big 10, Carolina if they win the ACC tourney, if Gonzaga wins some of their huge early head to heads (K State, Duke, San Diego St, Memphis to name a few) they could be up there too. But I also think it's a pretty fair model that on paper those are the 8 teams most likely to hold those seeds, but there is a reason they play the games. Kentucky just needs to show they can shoot the ball, no one questions the athletic talent.
