Well my first choice is gone.

Ron said...

Well I'll say now that my #1-3 picks were Michigan St, Duke, Purdue, so there you go.

Now that Ohio State (which is a great pick, I thought about them over Purdue) and Kansas State is gone, who will go next??? I'm predicting Big East Time, with possibly a 1,2,3, run. Or will the allure of those Kentucky All Star Rookies catch someone's eye again?

Wow. Good progress for so early. I'm surprised a bit with K State this early. They ended strong last year, but otherwise would not have been a stellar pick. They lose two starters too. I guess keeping the tradion of Boaris just being good enough to not matter. May they enjoy their tie for third in the big 12.

Not real pleased with that last pick Jaybird, I was hoping to get Pitt, I see big things for them....speaking of big things, I'll take Gonzaga and all the trees they have inside, I'm looking for them to give K State and Duke their first losses in Nov

-The CEO

Ron said...

This will be good game:
Dec. 1 - Duke vs. Michigan State
and
Nov. 22 - Gonzaga vs. Kansas State

Ron said...

Remember you can't draft two teams from the same conference onto your squad until the fifth round.

Some Guy takes Washington

Ron said...

Good pick, but I'm surprised you didn't take Illinois...

Anonymous said...

he does pick in two or three turns. Ill will probably still be around

Last year I was too late to pick a Big 10 team. Again, it happened, but...... I'll take the dirty boys from Illinois anyway! Go ahead, make fun of me...

Thatsa good pick. McGrumpy's up!

Anonymous said...

This is just ridiculous - I'll take Kentucky next year - Four 5-Star recruites including 3 of the top 4. And odds are several players hang around this year.. they will be good.

Ron said...

Your brother took them as the #2 pick last year. Which apple is falling further from the tree?

Anonymous said...

Nice pick Moose, I was hoping Florida would slip to me.....

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

Arggghhh, so many teams with just about the same opportunity here, I'll take Missouri

Anonymous said...

The next 15 picks are going to raid the MWC, as well as the Atl 10. Babbleater, I'm thinking your next two picks are leaning towards Charlotte and the sleeper - Jacksonville. Dumbass

Anonymous said...

I loves me some Jacksonville but not this year thank you. I've got my eye on the North Texas Mean Green though, part of my squad in the forgettable inaugural year of this contest.

The Temple pick seems to have stumped the field and brought the draft to a halt.....

Anonymous said...

temple was 29-5 last year, and finished the AP poll #12. I think they could be a good team again this year, well worth the top 20 pick.

Ron said...

Akaoni is bogged down in work. He apologizes for the delay. He will have his pick soon, he is apparently evaluating the benefits of Iowa vs. Iowa State.

Anonymous said...

vs. Northern Iowa..

Anonymous said...

No, not Northern Iowa!!!!!

Ron said...

That was a tough decision for Akaoni, but I think either team was a gamble, and Butler is going to be damn good. Baylor has a lot of question marks, but some big exclamation points as well.

Anonymous said...

Tenn will either be really good, or really on probation and post season non-eligible, will be interesting to watch, I like the talent, lying to the NCAA scared me away.

-The CEO

Ron said...

Yes but when would sanctions or bans come down? Tennessee is further along in the investigation than Baylor and UCONN. Tenn and Baylor both look pretty bad ass though. Gambles.

I went with San Diego State because I wanted to make sure I had a team I like.

Anonymous said...

I'm trying to remember back to how Indiana's probation was handled when they committed the same "transgressions", although they didn't lie to the NCAA either. Maybe all that will happen is Bruce Pearl will lose some cash, but it certainly feels unfinished, but have to agree, it's been very quiet........

High risk, high reward

Anonymous said...

NCAA decided against tacking on any significant additional sanctions due to violations committed by previous coaching regimes. The worst appears over for USC and Kevin O'Neill, who in the middle of last season drew the unenviable task of informing his team that it was withdrawing from postseason consideration.

USC found out midseason last year....

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

Yes but they were sucky last year. I wonder if they treat all teams equally, or bow to pressure before potentially top 10 programs. ~babs

Anonymous said...

It certainly adds a dynamic to the draft, Baylor was preseason #4 before all the fun went down, now they're at best the 25th pick in this league....Tenn, UConn, who knows what will happen, owners could get a huge boost from these teams, or take a big blow midseason,

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

I think the concern for Baylor has as much to do with post season as it does with Slugger actually playing. Its always hard to lose and replace an all-american candidate.

Anonymous said...

And Musash snags the first terrible pick of the year!

Anonymous said...

GUNz, you are killing me, great picks, I was hoping one of the two would slip to me, I am now Picking GUNZ as my early season favorite to raise the trophy at the end of the year, nice picking....

-THE CEO

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I knew I could wait on Wisco until the way back down b/c Mush already had MSU...Time to start picking some consistent programs for a while for everyone, I figure, the sleepers will come out soon. Cuse in the fourth round last year winds up a #1 seed. Somebody from this next round will have a similar fate.

Anonymous said...

That's actually the biggest reason I took Duke over Purdue....figured Wisconsin might be available at around this time....although there was an ACC team I was dying to pick over G'Town and couldn't....

Ron said...

I agree, Gunz has a solid core. ~Babs

Kentucky the "worst" first round pick? You must have really loved the rest of those picks. Syracuse at 13 is a better pick? Gonzaga at 8? (and I love Gonzaga). I'll take a flier on a young team with enough talent to win it all vs. a bunch of more experienced teams with virtually zero chance of winning it. Last year's Butler was an anomaly.

Sportsbook futures odds:

Duke +400
Michigan St +600
North Carolina +1000
Purdue +1500
Pittsburgh +1500
Ohio St +1800
Florida +2000
Kentucky +2000
Kansas +2000
Kansas St +2000

Bodog and SBG have Kentucky at 10-1 (same as Michigan St.). Only Duke (5-1) has better odds. Kansas St. is 11-1, Purdue is 15-1, North Carolina is 18-1.

Who should I have taken instead of Kentucky at 11? Which of the next 10 picks should I have taken?

Anonymous said...

I think at 11 Kentucky was a good pick, if you like Kentucky. I would have taken Syracuse, but only because I like Syracuse more than Kentucky. I even considered taking Syracuse at #3 but if not Purdue I would have taken Pittsburgh. I think they are going to fuck people up this year.

~Babblemur

Anonymous said...

You like Syracuse? Have you not heard Boeheim's unhinged rants about how overrated the Big 10 is? It's as if the Big 10 insulted his mother.

Anonymous said...

I will take Boston College. That may be the worst pick of this round.

I don't think Kentucky is going to be a top contender this year. Yep they are good, and Syracuse was definitely my #2 most questionable pick by only a small fraction.

It seems the coaches in the league like Florida and Mississippi St more than Kentucky, and even Johnny boy is letting his fans know that this year won't be like last, with a significant learning curve.

I probably would have taken half of the round 2 squads prior to Kentucky.

I do think they have potential to score some points, and to win some games. But anyone looking for the success of last year really needs to wait until next year, when a handful of the players stick around and join next years absolutely absurd recruiting class.

My guess is that Kentucky is not a top 10 point producer, which is what you hope for from your top pick, right?

Zaga plays what could be considered the most challenging non conference schedule should provide a solid boost of points, and they are staged to dominate their league while likely winning 1-2 games in the ncaa. I suspect they produce between 60 and 70 points, which is pretty good - maybe more safe than amazing.

Get your cusa teams now!

Anonymous said...

For the record, I did not draft Charlotte, I took UC Santa Barbara, regarding the off comment on Gonazaga, I like their chances to give Duke their first loss of the season, Zoubek was easy to hate, but his presence in the middle won Duke the National Championship, his toughness, shot changing, and sick offense rebound kickouts to spot up jumpers are gone....all that being said, Kentucky wasn't a bad choice, if Kanter ends up playing at all they were a steal. If they win the SEC, you got a great pick that late...

-The CEO

Anonymous said...

Yeah sorry, fixed that charlotte mistake. It is all correct now. You were thinking though how nicely Charlotte would fit in your devious plans though.

As for Boston College I was hoping that they would have come back around to me. I was going to snag my 6th Major Conf team. Now if I want that I have to take Georgia Tech and I don't think I can do that.

The big mid-majors are looking pretty crowded, except for maybe Nevada (WAC), Tulsa (CUSA), Utah (MWC), George Mason (Colonial), or Akron (MAC).

The minors have plenty of zits to pick. Who wouldn't root for Stony Brook? Western Kentucky or North Texas in the whatever? Coastal Carolina? Princeton? Quinnepeac for christ's sake! Their players are funny looking to boot!

TULSA - SGII

Anonymous said...

George Mason returns 5 of their top 6 scorers from a while also playing numerous winnable head to heads, including:

~ Charlotte
~ Dayton
~ Old Dominion (twice)
~ VCU

Add in post season tourney possibilities of additional head to heads, and you're looking at probably the best damn team left.

For the love of head to heads, someone pick George Mason!

Anonymous said...

I love it, free advice, question is, how valid :o).........Texas Tech is still out there too!!

Ron said...

No I'm messing with you. These teams all suck.

Who dares take Youngstown State Penguins? Who I say?

no, really, Texas Tech is still out there......
