Dammit - big head to head this week with UNC and Kentucky - I may have to give in to those Iowan bastards and admit that UNC may be the worst first round pick - I'll hold out if they can beat Kentucky, which might still make them a tie for the worst.

Anyway, Mid Major top 20 (as of Nov29):

1. Old Dominion (19) 4-1 738 3
2. Gonzaga (6) 3-2 709 1
3. St. Mary's (1) 6-1 702 5
4. Wichita State (4) 3-1 677 4
5. Cleveland State 7-0 647 7
6. VCU 4-1 594 8
7. Butler 3-2 549 2
8. Missouri State 4-2 502 9
9. George Mason 4-2 469 10
10. Loyola (Chicago) (1) 7-0 453 14
11. Kent State 6-1 403 16
12. Murray State 3-3 391 6
13. Creighton 4-2 359 13
14. Oakland 3-3 345 12
15. North Texas 4-1 275 23
16. Rider 4-2 220 15
17. South Dakota State 5-0 201 25

Glad to see none of my "minors" are on the list of worst picks at this point, however, Fairfield and UCSB have definitely underachieved and have rightfully fallen off the top 20 for minors. How about Cleveland St, improing to 8-0 last night vs UWGB, will Butler's grasp on the Horizon end?

I know Wofford is 3-5, but their losses were to Minnesota, Clemson, Xavier, Air Force (weak but they are 4-1), and Georgetown and a win over George Mason. They'll crack the rankings shortly as they start playing the types of teams some of the others that are ranked on this last have been.....

Best Saturday Matchups in my opinion:

Duke - Butler rematch of the national championship game. I hope Butler sticks it to them good.

San Diego St - Wichita St = lets see how good these two teams are (assuming TV Gods let us watch it)

Gonzaga - Illinois = two top notch teams.

Kentucky - North Carolina = whereby Jut gets to either put his foot in his mouth ("Kentucky is a shitty first round pick blah blah blah") or prove his point. Also, if North Carolina loses, I think we can write off the rest of Jut's season.

Sleeper pick: Georgetown vs. Utah State = this one not only pits a hot major vs. a hot mid-major, it pits Gunz vs. Boaris again in what we can now declare a "rivalry", a battle at the top of the leader board, a "grudge match", a Thrilla in Manilla, a Rumble in the Jungle, a spicy Bloody Mary, a

I didn't see any love for the huge Wofford - Elon Matchup :o), and technically Friday is the weekend, so what about K State heading West to take on Washington State?

C'mon man.

Well, I like the BYU and Old D starts - they both have met or exceeded expectations. Texas's win over Illinois is solid as well, as they look like a great team in a loaded Big Ten. Texas has a real chance of winning the Big 12, which could potentially produce a 1 seed in the NCAAs. So, I think that even a 20-10 finish from UNC doesn't discount me, though makes it a bit tougher.

Remember, Babs did fairly well last year per his accounts, and his first pick tanked.

Yep, ODU and BYU are looking like great pics. And I have no doubt UNC will figure it out. That's the type of team that could make a run as a 4 or 5 seed. I lime Kentucky, but they'll be matched talent-wise against UNC.

And Inpicked Kentucky purely on talent.

Huge Saturday for the SGII squad. Five head-to-head matchups, I expect at least 4-1. Go Illini!

Few things would have been worse in the world of Babblemurball than to loose to an Iowa boy, especially after dissing his team. May Kentucky fall!

Okay, I hate to admit it, but with Jut's big win over Kentucky yesterday, Gonzaga now owns the "Worst" first round pick status. Upcoming head to heads with Notre Dame, Xavier, and Baylor could change that, but Gonzaga just seems a little off, they start every game about 10 in the hole right off the bat. I still think they win their conf, although St Mary's is looking solid so far, so not even that is a given, thank goodness for Minnesota.....

It is a sorry state when you have to rely on Minnesota to carry you. Maybe next year..

I agree with your brother. -Babs

Don't be hating now because, bro you didn't get a Big 10 team, and Bab's, the one you picked came up with a bum leg....

For the record, there weren't a lot of great choices on the board at pick 7 or 8 whatever I had, UNC, Kentucky, Washington, etc...are all just a little ahead of Gonzaga.

And let me also throw out there that the PAC-10 may be tougher than people thought, USC looked really good last night, Washington St almost got K State in a really ugly game, Arizona is tough, UCLA pushed Kansas but I'm not convinced they're very good, and Washington is solid (FSN North carries the whole PAC-10, so I've been watching these games)
