Penn State Wins NIT, Musa climbs to 11th

Penn State defeated Baylor in the NIT, a crushing blow for NotaTurtle that boosted the ailing Musashisan out of the basement and into 11th place, just a few points ahead of HippieD. HippieD, however, still has UCONN in the Final Four, and thus his fate is in his hands.

Musashisan also has a chance to win the CBI best of 3 finale when Oregon State faces Turtle's UTEP tonight in the tie breaker.

But the big games are Saturday! Final Four Baby

Michigan State (Babblemur) long shots to reach the final game and give Babs the win;

UCONN (HippieD) the giant killers with their own giant wade into the final four ready to reek havoc as HippieD tries to stay out of last place;

North Carolina (Jaybird) everyone's choice for National Champs at the beginning of the year is finally giving Jaybird, who has never led this competition, a crack at winning it all;

Villanova (The CEO) unlikely rise out of the brutal Big East, maybe the only team that can beat UNC at this level and potentially give The CEO, who has also never led this competition, a crack at winning it all;

ITS ON!

Goddamned Babblemur media bias.

And Akaoni fades to an ignominious 6th place...like a fart in the wind.

North Carolina - ITS ON!

Without really looking into if this is how it should be (ie our point system is correct), it is exciting to see that the national championship game is down to #1 v #2 with the winner taking it all.

Go Jaybird.

Part of that is that the NCAA tourney is heavily weighted in our scoring system (as I believe it should be). That said, congrats and good luck to Jaybird and Babblemur tonight. I believe that Babs' Mich St. win may have actually given him less of a chance to win the whole thing, but it's more satisfying this way, isn't it?

Yes, it is more satisfying in a way - especially if Michigan state wins!!! Losing to UCONN and then winning based on UNC losing to UCONN would have been a hollow victory for me. As it is now, I will probably lose, but second place ain't bad (and won't break the bank as bad as third place).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Congrats to North Carolina & Jaybird you bastards.

I vote for decreasing the point values of the NCAA Tourney by one per round, excluding the first round.

WAAAAAAAAAH!

Congrats Jaybird - Let's call it the Hall of Mitchell now instead of Hall of Fame. Or Hall of Wisconsin. Or Hall of Not Babblemur.

This was very fun I thought this year - despite limited trash talking from several players.

Turtle, start planning now.

I second the motion of reducing pts for rounds 3, 4, and 5 by 1 each.

Congrats to Jaybird for the big win!

As to rule changes, I think we have to walk a fine line. Jaybird's win makes it clear that the NCAA is really what counts in terms of winning it all. A good regular season performance won't seal the deal for you without a good NCAA tourney to back it up. Conversely, you can play your way out of contention, as Hippie D did. If this competition is going to be a long term thing, I recommend we sit on the scoring system we have for another year (we can implement the changes we voted on or not) before doing any serious tinkering. That, or we can add NCAA tourney point reduction to the votes and revote, although we might not get as much participation now that the season is over.

Anyway, thanks to all for a fun year and once again congrats to Jaybird.

As for my personal feelings, I'm not opposed to the point reduction for the NCAA tourney.

Also, go Cubs!

Thanks everyone for a great year....Glad that I could dominate the competition from start to finish like that, HA! I am currently preparing my HOF induction speech, it should be ready soon.

Sorry all,

CEO has been busy burning the midnight oil. Let me catch up on a few things:

1) Jaybird, congrats, now don't ever take my Tarheels again

2) As far as Rule changes, go look at my last 4 teams which gave me nothing more than 19 pts. Had I drafted a little more intelligently, the 36 pt difference between Jaybird and I would have been peanuts. Granted, I would still have had to place a team in the final four (Nova), but could have taken first without winning a game in the final four.

3) Bab's, in the battle of picking minor's vs major's, I will tip my hat to you, the right majors get the tip, as they get more head to head ops, they may not win as many games, but only the best mid's can give good pts, see Siena

4) Rule changes, I don't know, this was a great year, to me the only thing that needs to be evaluated is a team like Boston College who beats Carolina on a Sunday evening, and then on Weds loses to unranked and not real good Harvard. Other than that, you guys run a great league

5) I would like to note Bab's that early in the year, you called LSU and Nova shitty teams, saying something like Nova was the 8th best team in the league. I don't think I need to write anything else on this one

6) I will not post anything about hoops next year. Every time I posted about my teams they lost. As a test, I posted before LSU's last league game, yes, they lost. I think I was 0-7 following posts about my teams, but 3-1 when Babs posted about my teams.

Looking forward to next year, and yes, I am the only Mitchell not in the hall of fame

-The CEO
