Conference Winners and Showdowns

America East:

Boston's (CEO) fall to Stony Brook dropped them to 9-5 in the A-East, and Binghampton's win over Hartford put them at 11-3. With just two games left, New Hampshire and UMBC both at home, Binghampton is putting the pressure on Vermont (Phunmunki) to win their final conference game at Maine on March 1 in order to claim the America East Champ points. Sorry Boston, it's over for you here.

Colonial:

VCU (CEO) took sole possession of first place in the Colonial with a win over Delaware tonight, they are now 12-4 with 2 games remaining. Northeastern (Jaybird) lost to Georgia state to fall to 11-5. George Mason (HippieD) won a squeeker against Drexel to step up to 11-5, a game out of first place. Old Dominion (Gunz) won again putting them at 10-6, a long shot to share a piece of the Colonial title.

Horizon:

Guess what? It's close now! Butler (Boaris) suffered their second straight loss, first time in over 100 games, and to UW-Milwaukee (Turtle)! Apparently there was some last seconds clock malfunction that may have denied Butler time but the score stands. Butler (13-3) now holds a one game lead over Green Bay (Jutdog) who beat Valpo to move to 12-4. Two games out is Cleveland State (Turtle), who is now 11-5 after beating Youngstown St. Wright St (Akaoni) fell to 10-6 after losing to Illinois-Chicago. There are two games left in the Horizon.

MAAC:

Siena (The CEO) didn't play, but Rider's defeat of Niagara put Siena 3 games up on Niagara with just 2 games left to go. Guess what? Conference Champs for Siena!!! SIX POINTS FOR THE CEO FOR WINNING THE MAAC!

MAC:

The MAC is still a tight race between Buffalo (Jaybird), who lost to Bowling Green tonight to fall to 9-3; Miami-Ohio (Gunz) who lost to Akron putting both teams at 8-4; and Kent State (Turtle) who won Tuesday to move to 8-4. There are still four games left in the MAC, and Western Michigan (HippieD) moved to 6-6 with a win over E. Mich.

MEAC:

The Morgan State (Progress Media) win over Howard puts them 3 1/2 games up in the MEAC and guarantees them at least a share of the Conference Champ, if not winning it outright (which is likely). So SIX POINTS FOR PROGRESS MEDIA FOR WINNING THE MEAC!

Missouri Valley:

Drake's (Akaoni) upset over Northern Iowa (The CEO) has led to a tie at the top of the MVC. Northern Iowa and Creighton (Babblemur) are tied at 12-4, with Illinois State (ProgressMedia) a game behind at 11-5 after a strong win over Wichita St tonight. There are two games left, and Illinois State plays both Northern Iowa and Creighton putting their fate in their own hands. I'm smelling a three way tie here at 13-5...

Mountain West:

Still a toss up - but Utah (Jutdog) helped their case with a win at Colorado St, and UNLV (HippieD) hurt theirs with a loss at Wyoming. BYU (Phunmunki), San Diego St (Babblemur) and New Mexico (Akaoni) are all in this chase.

Patriot

Holy Cross (Babblemur) and American (ProgressMedia) both won conference games tonight leading up to their Saturday showdown. American holds a one game lead over Holy Cross with three games left in conference play. American and Holy Cross face off Saturday. Holy Cross won their last match off at home, this one is at American U.

UPDATE (Friday 3/20): Weber St beat Montana Thursday in the Big Sky, clinching at least a tie in the Big Sky with Montana, but since Weber St beat Montana both meetings, JUTDOG GETS SIX POINTS FOR WEBER ST WINNING THE BIG SKY!

UPDATE (Sunday 3/22):
Gonzaga's win puts them 3 games ahead of their closest competition (Portland) in the WCC with just 3 games left. Even if they lose every game remaining (which is unlikely) they will still be conference champs (they beat Portland twice this year). So PHUNMUNKI GETS SIX POINTS FOR GONZAGA WINNING THE WCC!

And Boaris is held to 1-5, very nice!

Remember that simply tieing with records isn't enough, head to heads matter. Two teams tie for first, but team a has more wins over team b, then team A is the winner.

Also, why not just give me Morgan st's points, and I can transfer them to Hippie D. Progress was complaining about my Morgan St recommendation, to the point he was considering dropping them. My Western MI recommendation was purely bad - almost Iowanian.

Yes yes, two teams tied, see if one beat the crap out of the other, got it, did it.

You can't have his points, and hey - are you even going to win any conferences?

Well.. here's my chances:

Ivy - 96% (Cornell)*

Atl 10 - 24% (Temple or Rhode Island)

MWC - 85% (Utah)*

ACC - 11% (Wake Forest)

Big East - 50% (Louisville)

Big Sky - 96% (Weber St)*

Southland - 75% (Stephen F Austin)*

Horizon - 11% (UWGB)

Big Ten - 0% (Ohio St)

In total: I win the 4 starred confs and 1 other. I'll take 5 confs, even though almost all suck. If Louisville ties for Big East, that is Big. MWC isn't bad either.

GB doesn't need to win any more points, as they have already exceeded expectations at 29 pts for a last round pick-up.

Go Oregon St Ducklings!!

Mt St Mary's lost a great opportunity in the NEC, Robert morris lost but mary did too. 3 games out, 3 games left. We'll leave this one up in the air but it looks like Jaybird (R Morris) is going to get the NEC points.

And with Weber State's win over Montana, they have clinched the Big Sky, thus JUTDOG GETS SIX POINTS FOR THE BIG SKY!

YEESSS!!! There is going to be a 3-way tie for first in the Atl 10 - Rhode Island, Temple, and Xavier. I'm going to get something like 12 points out of this one. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

How do you bolden your comments?

Anonymous said...

FYI - Dayton is heading into a 3 game slide, at Xavier, at Rhode Island, and home against Temple. Can you say NIT?

Ron said...

bolding comments involves html tagging.

use the less than symbol < then a b then the greater than > but then you must end the bolded section with the closing tag: less than < symbol then a slash / then the b again then greater than > symbol.

I'll try putting it in quotes to see if it will show it:

"like this bold"

PAC 10 -

I want to thank Musa's Oregon State for beating Stanford, and also thank UCLA for beating Washington, which now puts Washington, California, UCLA and Arizona St all at 4 losses. Horse race in the PAC 10

Babs,

While i'd love to take pts for a loss, I'm not as low as you, and will not accept the 1 pt for a Cornell loss to Yale. Cornell sucks.

Wow, Cornell lost? To Yale? What a bunch of jokers. Are you still feeling 96% sure you are going to win the Ivy League?

I fixed the spread sheet and updated the standings. You are still ahead of me based your record.

Anonymous said...

Well, I'm 100% sure San Diego St got destroyed today in their 40 pt loss to New Mexico today.

And, Cornell is still 90% likely to win their conf.

Thinks are getting clearer in the conferences, but fuzier up top, Pitt will be the new number 1, big rematch in the ACC tomorrow, also, officially in 16 min's we're 3 weeks from selection Sunday.

Jut, any predictions on the Duke - Wake Forest Game? I say Duke by double digits. Wake isn't playing with the same swagger they were the first time these guys hooked up, and Duke seems to rise for the big important games.

Wow,

As predicted, double digits, but not before Wake almost came back and took control of the game....again, a great war, just a ton of talent on the court. All I have to say is this, I don't know what seed will be better, #1 or #2 in the ACC, I instead will define it as the team that doesn't have to play Wake until the championship game vs the qtr's,
