Feast Week

This week looks to be one of the best weeks of college basketball in a season that has shown signs of greater parity than usual. Top 10 teams are squeaking past spunky opponents, teams are playing scrappy and tenacious ball, and its looking like anything can happen.

Highlights for Week three:

Paradise Jam Final (3 point tourney) - #6 Purdue (NotaTurtle) vs. #9 Tennessee (Jutdog) This game is HOT. Winner will get 5 pts for beating a top 10 team, 3 for the tourney, plus bragging rights given the intense rivalry between Jutdog and NotaTurtle. The hate seethes between these two, and this game decides it.

Maui Invitational (3 point tourney) Kicks off Tonight, Monday, runs through Wednesday. Great field features six player teams: Gonzaga (Turtle) seeking redemption, Vanderbilt (Babblemur) and Cincinnati (The CEO) face off in the first round, Arizona (Turtle) faces Wisconsin (Gunz) in the first round, with Babblemur's Maryland (Babblemur) the favorite to win this bitch. Lets go.

NIT Final(ly) - 4 point tourney (the mother load). Wednesday Duke (Gunz) faces Arizona St (Some Guy in Illinois), the winner faces UCONN (NotaTurtle) or LSU on Friday. Damn, Turtle sure seems to have a lot of tournament teams... could we be looking at a comeback...

Anaheim Versus Orlando - the Battle of Two Awesome Tournaments

14 teams facing off in these two rival tournaments, both kick off Thanksgiving Day and run through Sunday. Both worth three points each. Both located near Disney Theme Parks. Its ON!

76 Classic (Anaheim) - Long Beach St (Turtle) faces the mighty West Virginia (Jutdog), Clemson (The CEO) takes on the Aggies of Texas A&M (Phunmunki). UCLA (oh my god did someone pick them?) faces Babblemur's giant killers the Portland Pilots, but the game to watch in the first round is the highly anticipated matchup between Jutdog's Golden Gophers and Babblemur's Butler Bulldogs. This should be a GREAT Tourney.

Old Spice Classic (Orlando) - Phunmunki has the deck stacked in her favor in this tournament, starting with Michigan vs. Creighton (Some Guy in Illinois), Xavier vs. Marquette (no one), and Alabama vs Baylor (Akaoni). The last matchup is Florida St (Jaybird) vs Iona, who must have blown Goofy to get into the tournament. I think this one will turn into Michigan vs. Baylor in the finals.

Should be a great week - a LOT of points out there!

Purdue and Tennessee went down to the wire! Purdue's win gave Turtle a ton of points.

The CEO though piled them on Monday night - 5-0 with a big Northern Iowa win over Boston College.

Jut got dicked again, left in the cellar as Turtle and The CEO climb out into "not-crappy-land".

OK, the Vanderbilt loss hurt me inside, but not as much as having to play Colorado in the loser bracket tomorrow. Maryland's win over Div II Chaminade didn't even count.

Nice! Badgers taking down Zona.

And on other Pac 10 news, Oregon drops another, this time to national contender Montana.

We get it, the Pac 10 is awful. Yet another reason I think AZ St is going to win that pitiful conference and their tourney. Big test Wed night vs. Duke. Go Sun Devils!

Congrats to Akaoni for winning the CBE Tournament, beating himself for the title.

Unfortunately, it appears that the win also might cost me Texas' starting point guard Varez Ward the rest of the season. There goes my tourney hopes.

Yes, Arkansas is not looking good right now, althoug Morgan State almost beat Kentucky too, I've got to look at them for the expansion draft, but the Arkansas experiement may come to an early end in Jan at this point,

I really need to figure out the 8 hole for this competition if I'm going to join my bro's in the hall of fame.

I have to say that I was happy to see Gonzaga beat Cincy after Cincinnati beat both my Vanderbilt and Maryland teams. VERY happy. Take that, bitches.

The Zaga win of Maui gives Turtle his second 3 point tourney of the week after Purdue on Monday...

Kentucky won the Cancun tourney for 2 points, beating Stanford (insert "Pac 10" insult here).

Duke (Gunz) and UCONN (NotaTurtle) face off Friday for the NIT Crown - 4 points. If UCONN wins this will be a MOST AMAZING WEEK for the Mr. Turtle.

7 Head to head games on Thanskgiving, 3 of them involve Phunmunki's teams, as the 76 Classic and the Old Spice Classic get underway.

How appropriate of Oklahoma to cap off a great day for the CEO with a blow out loss to mighty San Diego. I really needed the 2 pts for head to head and 3 pts for tourney win from Cincy, that alone could have salvaged yesterday. Time to find out if Clemson is real, or a pretender like Oklahoma,

What is more fitting, than a "What to be Thankful for" list on Thanksgiving, here are the CEO's thoughts:

1) I can not express my joy and thanks that I do not have a Pac-10 team on my roster

2) For Akaoni, that the CEO passed on Cincy allowing Akaoni to grab Syracuse

3) That the ACC is not really good this year, giving me a chance to make up the points Oklahoma will cost me with Clemson

4) That Jutdog drafted Boston College (love the extra head to head points from Northern Iowa and upcoming Clemson matchups)

5) That Arkansas suspended 5 players, including 3 returning starters, the day after our draft, Awesome!!!

6) That Roy Williams could recruit as well as he does, but forget to get any guards, but man, Carolina is tall this year, aren't they

7) That Phumunki grabbed Oregon State two picks before I would have (even though San Diego State only has one more point than them, it is one more point!!)

8) That there are this many early season games for me to enjoy on my days off

Happy Thanksgiving all,

-The CEO

I'm thankful that even though some of my teams suck worse than I thought, they don't suck as bad as Jut's teams.

I will be very thankful if Portland upsets UCLA tonight.

like Butler..

Okay okay Minnesoota beat Butler, fair nuff. Portland just beat the living shit out of UCLA handing them their worst loss in over 5 years. Portland gets Minnesoota tonight, while Butler has to play UCLA in the loser bracket.

Hopefully Portland will avenge Butler's loss.

Do you have Portland too? This is great. I love beating the shit out of you.

And to the thankful CEO, welcome to full of shit land.. Clemson taking the ACC...?

Wow, I think I'm on a 9 game losing streak after a 5-0 Monday, hop;ing Michigan State can turn things around. Glad to see Oklahoma blew the 16 pt lead they had when I went to bed last night, man do they SUCK!!!! They are seriously jeapordizing their shot at a NCAA bid which is hard to do this early, but if there is a model for how to do it, look up Oklahoma and their games to date.

Florida, really? Or how about a double dip of Morgan State and then Esat Tenn State, really? I'm not sure of what the force is, but I'd like all my teams to go on bye for two weeks while whatever is holding them down passes......

Babblemur said...

OMG your teams suck so BAD!!!!!! Michigan state's loss is just totally uncalled for. I woulda taken Oklahoma so I'm glad I didn't.

Portland up by 10 over Juts Gopher guts so far...

Babblemur said...

OK Notre Dame's loss to Northwestern blows but Richmond over Miss St WOO HOO!

Anonymous said...

...and Portland defeats Jut's Gophers. Jut's revenge will surely be West Virginia over Portland on Sunday, but its been good avenging Butler's loss to Minnesota.

wow! what a crazy end to the Butler / UCLA game! Why the foul with 1 second after you come down and hit a 3 to tie it up? Can't tell with GameCast.
